TEMPEST Gallery with Kristen Heritage
TEMPEST Gallery talks about art in a maelstrom. The gallery invites artists to broach difficult conversations, seek anti-imperialist frameworks and honor craft and cultural heritage in their practice in textiles, sculpture and installation. Launched in 2024, TEMPEST is based in the culturally rich neighborhood of Ridgewood, New York. Through their programming, they aim to create community and a space for gathering and presenting work.
Kristen Heritage is a Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist creating paintings, mixed media works and performance. Heritage’s figurative works explore the phenomenology of contemporary life, investing everyday scenes and objects with layers of symbol and myth. Under the music project 3rd Floor Ghost, she creates stripped-down folk rock borne on the power of her voice and expressive fingerstyle guitar technique. Heritage studied Fibers with a minor in Art History at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Heritage is the recipient of a 2021 New York City Artist’s Corps grant and has attended the ChaNorth Artist Residency and the 33 Officina Creativa residency in Toffia, Italy. She has exhibited and performed in group shows in New York City, Savannah, Georgia, and New York’s Hudson Valley and serves as a Co-director at TEMPEST Gallery in Ridgewood.

20 Empty Tree Beds - 24 Participating Artists
Ridgewood's sidewalks contain more than 800 empty street tree beds, roughly one for every 90 residents. For one weekend, twenty of these overlooked spaces will be transformed into temporary, site-specific artworks by 23 participating artists.
Visitors are invited to explore the neighborhood on foot, discovering how contemporary art can temporarily transform familiar streets while reflecting on public space, urban ecology, and the hidden potential of the city's overlooked landscape.
